WHAT DOES A MYSTIEK ROOF LOOK LIKE AND WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MY HOME?

‘Appearance does matter’ is a frequently heard statement. Solar panels are often used in a way that we do not find very attractive. It is precisely for that reason that Solinso has developed the Mystique solar roof tile. Solinso is a Dutch company and produces the Mystiek solar roof tile on its own machines in Kessel (between Venlo and Roermond).Mystiek solar roof tiles fit seamlessly between flat roof tiles, which do not affect the horizontal lines of the roof. So no unsightly solar panels on or between the roof tiles, but energy from the sun that is generated almost invisibly by the roof.An additional advantage of a beautiful sunroof is that it increases the value of the home. When it comes to solar panels, people often talk about payback times. If the increase in value of the home is included in this calculation, a Mystiek solar power installation will already pay for itself as soon as the system is installed!

WHAT APPEARANCE DOES A MYSTIC ROOF HAVE?

The starting point for a beautiful sunroof is the appearance that the roof should have. The choices you make can influence the technical feasibility. Therefore, we ask you to think about some details mentioned and explained below.
1. The brand, type and color of the roof tile.
Mystique is almost always combined with a flat roof tile. Flat roof tiles are also available in different designs. The detail finish, color, gloss and even the surface profile differs per roof tile type. A Mystiek solar roof tile has a glass surface with a matte surface structure, which means that a black-glazed roof tile provides the best possible matching under all weather conditions. This combination makes the solar power installation virtually invisible. This combination is chosen in 30% of our projects.

50% of our customers choose a matte black roof tile color. This makes the roof surface appear a bit calmer, but a contrast will remain between the material of the roof tile and the Mystiek sun roof tile when the sun shines on the roof. Sometimes combinations with other roof tile colors such as gray, slate, anthracite, but also red rustic occur. We also have the option to combine Mystiek with rapid deck roof tiles.

2. Are the roof tiles installed in block bond (strip) or in half-brick bond (staggered)?
This is a personal choice. We see that approximately 50% of our customers choose block bonding. When roof tiles are staggered, the horizontal lines are more visible.

3. Is Mysticism placed in a block bond (striped) or in a half-brick bond (staggered)?
In 95% of the projects, Mystiek is placed as a rectangular surface in the roof surface between the roof tiles.
Sometimes Mystiek is installed completely filling the roof. The dimensions of the roof surface and the Mystiek product choice are then matched. This is only possible for new construction or complete roof renovation.

Mystique can also be included in the half-brick roof tile bond. This does not detract from the aesthetics, especially with a slightly larger sunroof.
Mystique can also be applied to trapezoid roofs.

4. How is the roof edge finished? When a roof is finished with facade tiles (also called “edge tiles”), the dimensions of the entire roof are determined by the choice of the roof tile. This applies specifically to homes with a roof overhang. The dimensions of the overhangs must be tailored to the choice of roof tile. This is only possible in new construction or complete roof renovation. Modern homes are often equipped with a rising wall or an overhang that is finished with a zinc cover profile. In that case, roof tiles can be cut to size and the integration of (solar) roof tiles on the roof surface is easy. The other way around also happens: when the facades are brickwork, the facade tiles must run neatly along the facade edge. The result of this is that the usable width on the roof must match the width of the roof tile. This can lead to there being no choice at all. The type of roof tile is then fixed due to the strict dimensions. This can occur during renovation projects.

5. Special wishes. It is possible to seamlessly integrate roof windows or windows between Mystique strips. You must take into account that additional design and implementation work is required because the position of the recesses in the roof must be precisely matched to the dimensions of the (solar) roof tiles. You should also take into account that the freedom of choice may be limited in other aspects because not all combinations of Mystiek products, roof tiles and roof windows are possible.
